The Route 1 Corridor running through Bakers Basin Road, located in Lawrence Township, New Jersey, is a critical area that currently suffers from significant issues. The area experiences heavy congestion daily, due to high traffic volumes from local commuters. Currently, the intersections within the corridor offer minimal infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists. The lack of accessibility prevents safe alternative modes of transportation which can create safety hazards for those attempting to travel the area without a vehicle. The redesign focuses to not only eliminate traffic congestion but to also increase pedestrian and cyclist safety by adding modern, inclusive transportation solutions that support sustainable urban development.
