A major summer storm in 2022 damaged half of Lomasons Glen Road in White Township, NJ and Bridge No. 23073, leading to a two-year closure with no alternate route established. A significant portion of the roadway embankment was eroded away, leading to the collapse of the roadway, rendering it unusable. <\/p>\n\n\n

Lomasons Glen Road connects to Belvidere Road, which is a major road for the area connecting Belvidere Township to Phillipsburg. County Route 626 serves as one of few routes traversing the mountainous terrain separating routes along the Delaware River to towns like Washington Township which are further into the state.<\/p>\n\n\n

The hydraulic aspects of this project focuses on redesigning a culvert, considering 2D unsteady flow and roadway elevation adjustments. The project will conduct 2D unsteady flow analysis, evaluate designs against hydraulic criteria, and optimize for factors such as cost-effectiveness and environmental impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From a transportation point of view redesign of the roadway embankment with horizontal and vertical alignments and cross-sections will be completed. Improving accessibility for pedestrian and bicycle travel will aid in furthering the connectivity of the roadway and traffic flow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
