The Ocean Drive\/Route 152 corridor between northern Ocean City, New Jersey, and Longport, New Jersey is both inadequately and inefficiently designed. This corridor facilitates heavy shore traffic and is not conducive to pedestrian and cyclist use. This project consists solely of transportation work. <\/p>\n\n\n

Alternative 3’s difference, being the Ocean City intersection<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n

Alternative 2 is the most effective alternative because it has a balanced split of overall project necessity and safety improvements, while Alternatives 1 and 3 redesigned the Ocean City\/Ocean Drive Bridge intersection that was deemed unnecessary. Design and realistic constraints such as the project\u2019s close proximity to sea level and the environmental effects of construction were considered when determining the most effective alternative.<\/p>\n\n\n

The historical traffic count data for the entire corridor was obtained using existing NJDOT counts, which showed an average daily peak volume of about 870 vehicles. This data was analyzed in conjunction with manual traffic counts taken during site visits. <\/p>\n\n\n

The intersection and dog beach parking lot will be designed in accordance with AASHTO, NJDOT, and ADA standards and specifications. The estimated engineering costs for the fall semester amount to $24,000.00. The estimated engineering costs for the spring semester will likely be similar, at an amount of $25,000.00.<\/p>\n\n\n
