April
Prototype Assembly
The calibration of the foam sensors is ongoing and the assembly of the prototype is underway. Shown below is a figure of a calibration curve generated for one of the sensors. Highlighted in green is the pressure threshold (25-30 mmHg) that the mask will work to maintain.

March
Project Demonstration
The team has printed various iterations of the active adjustment system and has finally determined one that would be most applicable for the device. The 3D printing of the component was completed right on time for a demonstration of the adjustment system. In other words, the team has been able to successfully engage/disengage the motors in response to pressure. More work is required to activate the motors for a relevant pressure application. Additionally, the team has been accepted to this year’s NEBEC conference.

February
Verification Protocols and Calibration of Sensors
Verification protocols are being worked on to ensure that the device has been made correctly. The code necessary for the round film sensors to function along side the microprocessor is being worked on in addition to the calibration of the sensors.

January
Beginning of Prototype Construction
The team has gathered most of the materials necessary to complete the prototype and is in the beginning stages of building the proposed device. The desired sensors and microprocessor have been acquires as well as two non-invasive ventilation masks.

December 6, 2023
Final Design Presentation
The team presented their final design solution for the AirEase mask. This presentation included requirements, specifications, justifications, verification and validation activities. Additionally, the final SolidWorks prototype model was presented.

Interim Design Presentation
The team has finalized most of the requirements and specifications for the device. Additionally, three solutions were designed for a pressure sensing system as well as three solutions for an active adjustment system. More information on these design solutions can be found on the Prototype Designs page.
