Welcome! We are a group of biomedical and mechanical engineering students at The College of New Jersey. This website documents the progress of our senior project:

Introduction:

Approximately 36 million people have lower limb amputations, with an estimated 26% of them being transfemoral amputees. Many amputees experience changes to the volume of their residual limb as they perform daily activities. This can cause discomfort and injury to the distal end of the limb. Most transfemoral prosthetic sockets do not have expansive features to accommodate this change in volume. Therefore, there is a need for a new device that can adjust to the volume fluctuation of the user’s residual limb.
