September/October 2021
To kick off Senior Project design requirements were outlined and followed up with specifications and justifications that will be followed for testing in the spring. In this time period engineering standards and constraints were also analyzed for future testing protocols and procedures.
November 2021
November consisted of our interim-design presentation with feedback about how to best implement our final design that will be presented in December. Focus shifted to finalizing design components for part-ordering and code compiling over December/January.
December 2021
As the fall semester came to a close, we wrapped up our final design presentation. This marked the beginning of compiling and testing that will be done over winter break and the spring semester. The final design solution consists of the detailed mechanism for the functionality of sound recognition, as well as the outline for the prototype with selected device components.
January 2022
January 2022 began the ordering of parts for the building as well as continuing to write algorithmic code for the sound detection. The budget was allocated accordingly to major parts needed for the build.
February 2022
This month began the finalization of verification (specification testing) and validation (requirement testing) protocols. The team continued to work on the code as well as outline hardware modeling (circuitry and components) for the device setup.
Once materials began arriving, the team finalized the final design case modeling for 3D printing according to RPI4 and breadboard measurements. Continued to finalize code.
March 2022
The team finalized testing protocols and final design hardware and software issues for testing.
April 2022
The team worked on testing for design specifications and requirements. The code was finalized and debugged in case there were any issues that arose. Testing focused on loudness, sound recognition matching, directionality, and notification to the user.
