Team Members

Jennifer Piserchia

Jennifer Piserchia is a senior Biomedical Engineering major with a Psychology minor. She is the Team Leader for this project and will be responsible for mechanical design and thermodynamic modeling. Her undergraduate research is in space biomechanics, where she studies the mechanical and material properties of suspended and cast-immobilized hind limb bones. She is the President of the Society of Women Engineers and is an active member of Her Campus TCNJ, Biomedical Engineering Society, and Humanitarian Yoga Club. Her professional experience includes working at Stryker Orthopaedics as an intern in Additive Manufacturing and working at KVK Tech, Inc. as a Research and Development Intern. After graduation, she hopes to work in the medical device industry. In her free time, she enjoys running and doing yoga.

Em Triolo

Emily (Em) Triolo is a senior biomedical engineering undergraduate student at The College of New Jersey. They are the team secretary and will be designing the control system aspect of the device. They are a Research Track student in the biomedical engineering department with robotics research experience beginning summer 2017. They have multiple on-campus jobs including tutoring math and science, supervising after-hours engineering laboratories, and giving tours of engineering facilities to prospective students and alumni. They are also the president of TCNJ’s Tau Beta Pi Chapter (New Jersey Zeta). Post-graduation, they plan on pursuing a Ph.D. in the field of assistive and rehabilitative robotics.

Merin Kalapuracka

Merin Kalapurackal is a senior biomedical engineering student at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). She is the team treasurer and is in charge of the budget and timeline of the design project. She is also in charge of mechanical and Solidworks design for the device. Merin worked as a research student in the summer at TCNJ modeling the right heart and a heated pulmonary catheter and running various tests. In addition to work in engineering, Merin is the Vice President of TCNJ’s Chapter of Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and is also team manager of Jiva, TCNJ’s Indian classical dance team. She hopes to work in industry after graduation and work more closely in the fields of medical imaging or product testing.

Quinn Rapps

Quinn Rapps is a senior biomedical engineering student at The College of New Jersey. He is the team webmaster and is in change of material and circuit design. Quinn has previously interned at Janssen Inc. as a research intern for Medical Affairs.. He has also been a facilitator with the Leadership Development Program on campus for 3 years which involves delivering presentations on public speaking, leadership development, risk-taking, and many other topics to other organizations on campus. Quinn plans on pursuing an MS in Bioengineering with a focus on biomaterials at the University of Syracuse. Quinn is also an Eagle Scout and enjoys hiking, swimming, and most outdoor activities.
