What is CF MED about?

According to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Patient Registry, in the Unites States, more than 30,000 people are living with Cystic Fibrosis within the country and approximately 1000 new cases of Cystic Fibrosis are diagnosed each year. Currently there are various airway clearance treatment plans for patients with Cystic Fibrosis but they require prolong visits to the hospital as well as assistance from  a caretaker. 

CF MED aims to provide an easy and comfortable way to expel mucus and to alleviate buildup in the lungs of patients with cystic fibrosis. We want to create a device that makes expulsion of mucus more comfortable and useable wherever and whenever it is needed. We hope to draw inspiration from a few devices already on the market. Currently there are devices that treat individuals who have this condition, however the novelty of our device will come from its portability and comfortability for patients.

Problem Statement: 

A way to loosen mucus in the lungs of patients with Cystic Fibrosis that will improve their quality of breathing.
