Over 5.5 Million people suffer from hip fractures and dislocations. And, individuals with hip fractures, dislocations, or femur fractures experience tremendous pain in the transfers from gurney to bed to medical imaging table and depending on the size of the individual require up to six people for just one transfer. Currently, low friction sliding boards and sheets are used to transfer patients. However, this causes lots of movement and as a result pain experienced by the patient. It also still requires up to 6 nurses for 1 transfer and can also result in chronic lower back pain in nurses. Invoking the need for a device that reduces the load lifted and number of nurses needed whilst also reducing the jostling experienced by patients from the current products on the market.
