Our names are Nick Smith and Dylan Novick, and our project is the COVID-19 Proximity Detection device.

With COVID-19 at the height of its infection rates, based on recorded data, scientists say that that the worst is still far from behind us. With global deaths nearing almost 1,000,000 people worldwide according to the C.D.C, 200,000 of which from the U.S alone, the need for systems to be implemented that ensure exposure is kept to a minimum is essential.

Our proposed system is designed to alert the user when they come within 6 feet of another individual with the same device. Our intentions moving forward with this solution, is that it can be applied in the context of any business, medical facility, or event/organization that requires a high concentration of people in a given area at one time.

Using beacon technology, our device will emit a bluetooth signal that other devices of the same nature can pick up. While development is still in its early stages, it is our hope that this design can successfully record contact tracing within a given scope. With this information, people can learn from their observations and implement new strategies that can ensure social distancing remains at its recommended length.
