The device must be able to detect body position.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Specifications:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1.1: Device must be able to accurately categorize sleeping position as supine or prone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Justification:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sleeping in the prone or lateral position can obstruct the baby\u2019s airway leading to suffocation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pediatrician recommended sleeping position is supine.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:19px\"><strong>2. The device must be able to non-invasively measure body temperature.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Specifications:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>2.1: Device must be able to accurately measure local temperatures between a range of 31\u00b0C to 39\u00b0C.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Justification:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A body temperature outside the normal physiological range (35.5<sup>o<\/sup>C to 37<sup>o<\/sup>C) is an indicator of disease.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:19px\"><strong>3. The device must be able to detect the sound signals of the baby.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Specification:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>3.1: Device must be able to measure frequencies between a range of 1,000 Hz to 6,000 Hz.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Justification:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This frequency range includes those measured from crying due to reasons such as hunger, need of a diaper change, emotional needs, and physical discomfort or pain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:19px\"><strong>4. The device must be able to non-invasively measure respiratory rate.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Specifications:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>4.1: Device must be able to accurately (RMSE \u2264 3 bpm) measure respiratory rate between 10 and 80 bpm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Justification:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Respiratory rate is important in determining whether professional medical care is required.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>18 to 68 breaths\/min covers range of 98% of healthy children under 2.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accuracy specification based on similar devices.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:19px\"><strong>5. The device must be able to non-invasively measure heart rate.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Specifications:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>5.1: Device must be able to accurately (\u00b1 5 bpm or \u00b1 10%) measure heart rate between 70 and 210 bpm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Justification:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li> A heart rate outside the normal physiological range is an indicator of disease.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>80 to 185 bpm covers heart rates of 98% of normal children under 2 years old.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EC13 standard requires measurements to be accurate within \u00b1 5 bpm or \u00b1 10%, whichever is greater. <br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:19px\"><strong>6. The device must take measurements in light and dark conditions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Specification:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>6.1: Minimum: 1 lux. Maximum: 300 lux.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Justification:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Babies sleep in dark and light environments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recommended:&nbsp;Adults indoor:&nbsp;1-250 lux, Babies in NICU: 10-600 lux<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:19px\"><strong>7. The device must have the ability to set alarm limits based on input values.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Specifications:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>7.1: Low alarm: Indicates cautionary alarm; outside selected range.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>7.2: High alarm: Indicates danger; measured values are at or exceeding hospitalization level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>7.3 Alarm must be less than 100 dB.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Justification:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Vitals vary per child. An alert must be generated as per a pediatrician&#8217;s recommendation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sounds over 100 dB can cause hearing loss.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>1.
