
ASME’s e-Human Powered Vehicle Challenge (e-HPVC), is an engineering design and innovation competition that gives students the opportunity to network and apply engineering principles through the design, fabrication, and racing of human powered vehicles.
Events
Design Event
Each team’s design will be scored by the judges on the following criteria:
- Application of sound engineering principles and practices
- Written Report
- Technical Presentation
- Performance Safety Video
- Static Judging of Completed Vehicle
Drag Event
This event is a 1-vs-1, direct elimination drag race tournament from a standing start. Teams will be scored on vehicle top speed.
Endurance Event
This event is a 2.5 hour road race with a rolling LeMans-style start. The race includes the following challenges/obstacles:
- Hairpin Turns
- Rumble Strip
- Slalom Section
- Speed Bump
- Parcel Pickup & Delivery
- Weighted Trailer (optional)
- Hill Climb

Overall Result: 3rd Place
We are exceptionally proud to announce that TCNJ earned 1st in the entire nation for design, earning the highest score between both the East and West coast competitions.
