The drivetrain of the vehicle will provide power to the rear wheel of the vehicle, and will feature a variable 10-speed sprocket cassette/derailleur assembly to allow for peak power generation at all speeds. An electric mid-drive motor will be coupled to the pedal assembly to allow for electric assist when the vehicle is in operation. The overall goals of the Drivetrain are to achieve a top speed of 28mph without electric assist, maintain smooth and efficient shifting, and accelerate as fast as possible provided human and electric power.

The red line shown in this image shows the drivetrain chain path as it will be applied to the final frame design.

The derailleur hanger shown here will function as an easily-replaceable sacrificial component of the drivetrain design.
