April 2021 [2/2]

Big update this week. Everything has been constructed and has been tested. The board is ridable and is working very well so far. Data and graphs have been updated on the website. We are currently putting the finishing touches on our report and PowerPoint presentation and should be good to go for May 5th. This year has been different than any other we have had thus far and it has been an exciting year to say the least. We will post a final update after May 5th.

April 2021 [1/2]

Time seemed to pass extremely quickly this semester. It is hard to believe that it is already April and there is still so much to do! With that in mind, our team has decided to split our testing up into a controlled and field based testing environment. The controlled testing will encompass lighter loads to gain an understanding of the behavior of our system before we put some real weight and eventually a test rider on it. Some preliminary images and such can be seen below.

March 2021 [2/2]

With TCF just behind us, we are in full construction and testing mode. We have planned out how the construction will look like and are beginning to work on the Hazard detection module as an added safety feature. These can be seen below.

March 2021 [1/2]

The team is now in full TCF preparation mode. The team plans on creating a poster electronically to present over Zoom since it won’t be in person this year due to COVID restrictions and concerns. We are hoping to have the poster completed soon so we can have Dr. Katz take a look at it and give us advice on what we should add/change/remove. So far our poster has some good material on it. It can be downloaded below.

February 2021 [2/2]

Another small update this week. The board construction is coming along smoothly. We have been making modifications to our design as we go to keep the process moving. Some minor bumps in the road were tolerances with the wheel pulley and how it interacts with the Caliber II truck system. The wheel pulley doesn’t freely spin around the Caliber II trucks and thus will require some filing down. Overall the wheels and the trucks are fitting on nicely and we are looking forward to getting all four wheels on the ground so we can begin our testing phases.

February 2021 [1/2]

The team has been busy refining the system and working closely with their advisor to stay on track and make consistent progress. The biggest part of this project is testing the design, not necessarily building it. We won’t really know if it will work or how exactly it will work until we construct it. Only then will we see where problems arise. No real images yet, but those will be coming very soon as the TCF poster construction begins.

January 2021 [2/2]

The team has a stationary board constructed and is ready for some preliminary timing and testing to be done. These can be seen with regards to the belt tension and with the wheel and motor pulley interaction.

January 2021 [1/2]

The team has been busy after the conclusion of Christmas and the New Year. We are optimistic that this year will be better than the last and look forward to a brighter future without lockdowns. To give a brief rundown of the progress the team has made so far, the parts for the Electric Excursion board have begun arriving. The team is planning on beginning construction of a stationary board design and testing that as soon as possible to utilize this spare time wisely.

December 2020 [2/2]

The team has completed the First Semester Design Review presentation and now begins the next leg of the Senior Project. The break is not really a break. It will be used to catch up and continue to develop this system from an idea into a tangible, functional product. We will post any updates in early January if there is anything special to comment on.

December 2020 [1/2]

The team has made a lot of progress this semester. With the Design Review tomorrow and finals looming on the horizon, the team is excited to present and continue to work towards their end goal of a completed product.
