Alternating pressure design

This proposed design solution would utilize compartmental alternating pressure to stimulate the blood flow beneath the skin. This would prevent or minimize the pressure injuries on the face. The pressure sensors that would be integrated into the mask would read the pressure in one compartment and when the pressure gets too high. The sensors would then signal a drop in pressure for the compartment while signaling the neighboring compartment to apply pressure.

After comparing this design solution to the others, this solution was eliminated. The compartments that would apply pressure are very close to the areas that pressure injuries commonly occur at. Additionally, this design would be too costly to fabricate. Therefore, the team will not be considering this design in the future.
