As a first-time project at TCNJ, the team feels it would be best to create a strong foundation for future iterations of this Capstone Project.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Competition Guidelines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Competition Events:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Event 2:<\/em> UCF Exolith Lab\u00ae Challenge (May 12\u201317, 2026) \u2013 field testing; top 10 advance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Event 3:<\/em> NASA Kennedy Space Center Finals (May 19\u201321, 2026) \u2013 final construction runs in Artemis Arena.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Robot Design Limits:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Max size: <strong>150 cm \u00d7 75 cm \u00d7 75 cm<\/strong> (may expand to 250 cm height during operation).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Max mass: <strong>80 kg<\/strong> (includes all robot subsystems).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must have <strong>4 lifting points<\/strong>; one person per 20 kg to carry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No GPS, pneumatics with external gas, or hydraulics.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must include a <strong>clearly accessible E-STOP button<\/strong> (\u226540 mm red COTS button).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must record energy use with a <strong>COTS data logger<\/strong>; improper wiring = 30-point penalty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Arena Setup:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Location: <strong>Artemis Arena, Kennedy Space Center<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contains BP-1 lunar regolith simulant (~45 cm deep), rocks, and craters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teams perform <strong>two construction runs<\/strong>; top scores determine ranking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>PPE Requirements:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>N-95 mask, Tyvek suit with hood\/booties, gloves, goggles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clean-shaven for respirator fit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No loose clothing or open shoes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Operation Rules:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Robots must pass <strong>Safety and Communications inspections<\/strong> before competing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>May operate <strong>autonomously or by teleoperation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must stay within arena bounds and avoid wall contact.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cannot alter regolith chemically or use ordnance\/projectiles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must build berms only from material in the <strong>excavation zone<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scoring Overview:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Construction productivity (mass &amp; energy normalized)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bandwidth efficiency (\u22644 Mbps ideal)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dust tolerance and dust-free operation<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Autonomy performance<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Passing all inspections required for any score.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Inspections &amp; Conduct:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Robots inspected before each run.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pit Boss oversees compliance and cleanup.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unsportsmanlike conduct or rule violations may lead to disqualification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2025-2026 TCNJ Lunabotics Team has opted to not pursue competition.
