Problem Statement
A way to address difficulty of detecting early infection in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis treatment that alerts the user when changes in dialysate turbidity are detected.
Complications have risen through peritoneal dialysis techniques however. A problem many patients on peritoneal dialysis face is that they themselves have to assess if the bag is cloudy or not and if they should seek help from a medical professional. There currently aren’t any devices on the market that can detect for changes in the dialysate waste before the patient might notice.
The goal of the device is to come up with a method for detecting when bacteria or risk of infection has increased within the dialysate waste bag before the user can. This would prevent patients from being oblivous to any changes throughout the peritoneal dialysis process and alert them when signs of infection have increased.
