LIFT DECISION MATRIX

The decision matrix below depicts the elimination process used in determining the final mechanical lift method for our device. Utilizing color coding and a ranking system of 1-5 shown in the top right legend, each proposed solution was ranked for various relevant categories. The ceiling lift received the lowest overall score as it did provide a great deal of stability and power, but its complexity and dependence on a ceiling weight bearing connection point proved too difficult. Whereas the decision between the air bladder design and metal plate design was much closer in their overall rankings being just one point in separation. However, the air bladder design’s cost, complexity and safety scores were ultimately the deciding factors.
