The sensors we are using are the Ultrasonic Sensor HC-SR04. They are affordable, easy to use, widely avaible, and accurate within range. The device costs about two dollars. The range of distance the sensors can detect is from 2cm to 450cm. The angle detection range is from 15 degrees to 120 degrees. The sensor requires a power supply voltage of five volts.

We will be attaching the sensors directly to the vehicle base. We plan to design and 3D print sensor frames that can be mounted to the base.
