Dr. Nabil Al-Omaishi, Ph.D., P.E – Faculty Advisor
Brian Litt – Team Leader, Connection Design
Brian Litt is the team leader of the group and is in charge of organization and managing portion of the project. Brian will ensure that all tasks are completed on time and to the highest quality. He will act as a point of contact and representative for the team throughout the project. Additionally, Brian will assist in the design of connections for the bridge members. Responsibilities include research into connection types, testing using computer modeling software, and a detailed analysis of the chosen connection. Brian is a senior Civil Engineering student and member of Phi Alpha Delta Fraternity. He also is captain of the men’s Ultimate Frisbee team, and an active member of the TCNJ chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Sean Carroll – Support Design, Computer Modeling, Materials
Sean Carroll is responsible for the design of the bridge supports, the making of the computer model, and the research of the materials. For the computer model Sean will be working alongside Kim drawing the design in both Visual Analysis and Strand7. Sean will also be researching materials and selecting the most optimal material that will be used in the design. Sean is a senior Civil Engineering student, and is a Student Assistant for the TCNJ Varsity Football team. This past summer Sean interned at CHA Companies working in the Parsippany office.
William Castore – Fabrication, Construction Schedule, Bridge Design
Billy Castore is responsible for the construction schedule, fabrication and help with the overall bridge design. Billy will be in charge of maintaining a tight construction schedule in order to complete the bridge with enough time to test it prior to the competition. He will be working closely with Brian and Eric for the connection and truss designs and he will be assisting Kim in fundraising. He is a senior Civil Engineering student and who has recently interned with Langan Engineering company.
Kimberly Dana – Fundraising, Computer Modeling
Kim Dana is in charge of fundraising and performing computer analysis for the bridge. Kim will be responsible for raising sufficient funds with the support of engineering companies as sponsors. For the computer modeling, Kim will be using a finite element analysis software, Strand7, in combination with Visual Analysis to ensure the bridge meets the criteria for competition under all possible loading scenarios. Kim is a senior civil engineering student. She is the captain of the Varsity Women’s Basketball Team, an ambassador for Team Engineering, and has interned with Suburban Consulting Engineers, Inc. for the last 3 summers (2014, 2015, 2016).
Eric Humcke – Truss Design, Construction Methods
Eric Humcke is responsible for the truss design of the bridge with consideration of speed of construction. He will be designing truss members that meet the load requirements and minimize deflection for the competition, as well as allow for a fast time of construction. Additionally, Eric will be working with Brian to ensure that the connections are integrated properly into the truss design, and allow for fast construction. He will be presenting his designs to Kim and Sean to be tested using finite element analysis software. Eric is a senior Civil Engineering student and the current Webmaster for TCNJ’s chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers. This summer he interned for L.R Kimball as a structures construction inspector on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
