What is an Arthroscopic Bone Shaver?
- Blade inserted into small incision through skin
- Used to abrade, cut and excise tissue and bone, remove loose fragments and shave away debris in arthroscopic surgeries
How Do Surgeons Hold A Bone Shaver?
There are Three Positions:
- Power grip (clutching method)
- Pinch grip (jabbing method)
- External Precision Grip(similar to holding a pencil)
Problems with Current Shavers:
- Uncomfortable, not ergonomically designed
- Constant re-positioning of handle
- Vibration
- Creates pressure zones on the surgeon’s hands
- Bulky Size
- Weight induces fatigue
