Device Overview

What is an Arthroscopic Bone Shaver?

  •  Blade inserted into small incision through skin
  • Used to abrade, cut and excise tissue and bone, remove loose fragments and shave away debris in arthroscopic surgeries

How Do Surgeons Hold A Bone Shaver?

There are Three Positions:

  • Power grip (clutching method)
  • Pinch grip (jabbing method)
  • External Precision Grip(similar to holding a pencil)

Problems with Current Shavers:

  • Uncomfortable, not ergonomically designed
  • Constant re-positioning of handle
  • Vibration
  • Creates pressure zones on the surgeon’s hands
  • Bulky Size
  • Weight induces fatigue
