The drivetrain will convert human power from the rider into mechanical work to the vehicle’s rear wheel. This year, an electric pedal assist is required by ASME, thus a mid-drive motor will be mounted to provide pedal assist and fully electric propulsion. A belt drive is the plan for power transmission from the front crankset to the mid-drive motor underneath the seat, which is transferred through another belt to the rear wheel of the vehicle. Rear hub shifting will be utilized as battery power for the competition is limited and electric assist will not be available for the entire competition race.
