The goal for the frame in this year’s Human Powered Vehicle Competition will be to create a fully functional semi-recumbent, tadpole tricycle. The frame being the most essential structure of the vehicle will integrate all of the other vehicles’ subsystems seamlessly. Other design goals are to make the frame as lightweight and durable as possible. A possibility for this year’s frame is to make it sustainable. This could be done through the capabilities of bamboo. A design requirement for the competition is to add certain safety features such as a roll bar and seatbelt. The seat belt must be attached to the main structure of the vehicle, and the roll bar must be able to protect the rider in case of an accident.
