Sitting to Standing Component

The sitting to standing transition component was tested using the Instron 5967 mechanical testing frame. A fixture was manufactured to fit the sitting to standing transition component within the testing frame and allow for compression testing. Additionally, an Instron attachment piece was manufactured in order to simulate the surface area of a human hand pushing down on the sitting to standing transition component.

The device passed this verification test with the standing transition component measuring 23 inches from the ground at the shortest setting, and 30.5 inches off the ground at the tallest setting. Additionally, the average vertical deformation at the maximum load of 103.5 lbs was 0.45 mm. This deformation was shown to be significantly less than the 40 mm specified value through a one-sample t-test with 100% power, with the mean of the collected data set being more than two standard deviations below the specified value of 40 mm.
