Michael Libonati

As the team leader, Michael was responsible for overall project management and communication with the members and advisors. Michael performed necessary hand calculations to make sure all the dimensions for the prototype fit together correctly, created the final SOLIDWORKS parts and assembly, created the drawings that were used in manufacturing, worked on manufacturing the prototype, ran ANSYS simulations to ensure the device could withstand the applied loads from the weight of the user, performed verification and validation tests on the prototype, and ran statistical analyses to analyze the results.

Joshua Platsman

As the team webmaster, Joshua was responsible for generating, designing, and updating the website to showcase the design process and the device’s benefits and capabilities. Joshua created a 3D model of the device’s mechanical design using SOLIDWORKS that was used for the ANSYS simulations and prototype production. Joshua was also responsible for designing the verification tests and writing the protocols for each test. Additionally, Joshua performed verification testing for the device and analyzed the collected data to determine if the device met the established specifications.

Wali Sohail

Wali was responsible for the budget and timeline, ensuring the cost of prototype production remained within the allotted budget and that the team stayed on track to complete the finished product on time. Wali is also responsible for determining and implementing the materials of the device and prototyping and testing component manufacturing. Wali assisted in performing verification and validation testing and calculating the results from the verification testing.

Thomas Trainor

As the team secretary, Thomas was also responsible for keeping track of what was done each day for the project for the team’s meeting minutes. Thomas is also in charge of the validation studies for the project. He is in charge of making sure the project is ready and safe for validation studies by getting approval from the IRB. Once the project is approved he will be in charge of running the study and analyzing the data.

Dr. Christopher Wagner

As the faculty advisor, Dr. Wagner guided the team by answering questions or concerns that surfaced.
