This was done by calculating the volume fractions of the rubber and foam materials for each sample, as well as the elastic modulus of the rubber and foam materials for each sample. The elastic modulus for each material was calculated by taking the slope of the linear portion of each stress-strain graph produced from the load and deformation data collected during testing. The device fails this verification study as none of the silicone-rubber combination material samples had an elastic modulus that fell within the specified range of 0.08 to 6.13 MPa. The elastic modulus for all three samples were smaller than the low end of the range specified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"845\" src=\"https:\/\/engprojects.tcnj.edu\/versatile-crutch\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/180\/2022\/04\/Screenshot-2022-04-28-144832.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-258\" srcset=\"https:\/\/engprojects.tcnj.edu\/versatile-crutch\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/180\/2022\/04\/Screenshot-2022-04-28-144832.png 700w, https:\/\/engprojects.tcnj.edu\/versatile-crutch\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/180\/2022\/04\/Screenshot-2022-04-28-144832-249x300.png 249w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/>
Graph of compression force vs composite extension.
