Solution

The final design features the following…

  • Arduino based Epley Maneuver guidance and feedback software
  • Accelerometer used to measure angles through arduino uno
  • Talkie library uses text to speak to communicate with the user
  • Bluetooth module to communicate data to BLExAR app
  • Polypropylene frame.
  • Ratchet from welding frame and touch fastener tape for adjustability

Conclusions drawn from creating an at home device for treating the Epley Maneuver…

The final design of the Epley Maneuver System ultimately solves the necessity for a device that provides patients on their performance of the Epley Maneuver alongside transmitting the data to healthcare providers who can further advise patients while they continue treatment from the convenience of their own home. As shown through verification and validation testing, the design solution and prototype presented effectively provides feedback, reads necessary angles precisely and proposes a solution that can be used without the need to attend a clinic when necessary, venturing the wide spectrum of at home healthcare medical devices such as the Epley Maneuver System can provide in the future.
