Introducing Our Custom Embedded Module Platform

Welcome to our very first project post! We’re excited to share the start of our journey in creating a custom embedded module platform built around the idea of being small, low-cost, and highly flexible for a wide range of IoT and sensing applications.

What We’re Building

Our project has two major components:

  1. Custom PCB Design – A reconfigurable board based on the ESP32 that future teams can adapt for different applications.
  2. Android Framework/API – A simple, powerful interface that allows mobile devices to seamlessly communicate with the hardware.

What’s Next

PCB Development

  • Design new PCBs tailored for future consumer needs.
  • Expand functionality by adding new modules and sensors.
  • Enable wireless usage by integrating a battery and charging system.
  • Prototype iteration: order, solder, and test new board versions.
  • Compact design goal: work toward making the board as small and efficient as possible.

Frontend/Backend Development

  • Enhance the Android app to better display and control all inputs and outputs.
  • Test end-to-end communication between the app and the board hardware.
  • Redesign the ComIoT website for improved usability and project visibility.
  • Bluetooth integration: Connect the Google Pixel to the board for mobile interaction.
  • Set up a virtual machine to host the build server and support testing environments.
