Overview
Our team goal is to decrease loosening of the hip replacement in patients with total hip arthroplasties by designing a more rigid fixation mechanism between the residual femoral bone.
This website will showcase the engineering design process that will be taken to complete this task.
Why is this Device Needed?
Technology has improved significantly over the years, however, hip implants last for only about 15-20 years and since the average life expectancy of people are increasing, the implants need to last longer to lessen the number of revision surgeries. Additionally, this device will target one of the most prevalent issues with hip implants, which is loosening.
