Meet the Team

My name is Alex Regner and I am a Senior Electrical Electrical Engineering student at TCNJ and Project Manager of this senior project group.  I play three different types of instruments including clarinets, saxophones, and guitar. I have also been involved in the campus jazz band, concert band, as well as the pit for the college production of Little Shop of Horrors.  Third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and skilled in the use of nunchucks, staffs, and sais. Contributor to medical research and accelerometer portion of this project. Also working with Dr. Joseph Jesson on a peer-reviewed paper involving the testing of NB-IoT antennas, specifically in regards to their functionality in penetrating materials such as concrete.

Hello! My name is Ryon Barclay and I am a Senior Electrical Engineering Undergrad at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). In addition to studying Electrical Engineering at TCNJ I am also a Resident Advisor (RA) and I have been working as an RA since my Sophomore year. I am also apart of the Pride Mentorship Program and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) on campus. I have a great interest in Embedded Engineering and enjoy working with and understanding the relationship between hardware and software. My role in this senior project is to work with the selected components and to get them to function with one another other so that they can meet our device specifications. To accomplish this task I have to have a strong understanding of how each component works so that I can get them to work to the best of their capabilities. Additionally, I am also responsible for the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design of the embedded device as well as the testing and debugging of the PCB design.

My name is Jonathan Ortega. I am a senior Electrical Engineering undergraduate student at The College of New Jersey(TCNJ). I am currently a part of TCNJ’s Residential Education Department, working as a Community Advisor (CA) since my Junior year. I am also apart of the Educational Opportunity Fund on this campus, where I volunteer as a peer mentor for underclassmen. I am also a brother of the fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi. My role for this senior project is to 1) construct the physical structure in which our selected components will be placed for the final design, 2) ensure they are able to work at full functionality within the casing, and 3) have it be comfortable for the wearer so that they may perform various forms of physical activity.

My name is Julian De La Cruz. I am a senior Computer Engineering major at The College of New Jersey. I discovered my passion for computer hardware and software by taking classes that delved into these topics prior to university. I have been able to finetune my skills as well as learn an enormous amount of new information related to the technical aspects of computers at TCNJ. My role for this project is to develop the mobile application that will connect to the Bluetooth sensor within the device to receive the information from the accelerometers. This application will then display the pertinent information to the user via a mobile device which for the purposes of this project, will be an iPhone.
