Welcome

Background: Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) is a common condition described as a sensory-motor disorder which results in an irresistible urge to move one’s legs. Additionally it is perceived as sensations such as creeping, itching, pulling, crawling, tugging, throbbing, burning, or gnawing. RLS usually occurs during prolonged periods of sitting or laying down, and therefore resulting in poor quality of sleep. RLS is mostly observed in women especially pregnant women due to low levels of iron.

Common Causes: RLS can result from a combination of genetic and environmental factors, iron deficiency, etc.

Current Treatments: While the majority of treatment was been through pharmacotherapy, there are devices such as the Relaxis Pad that use vibrational therapy as a means to combat RLS symptoms .

Current methodologies are too reliant on drug therapy and/or have recently been deemed non-therapeutic.

Our Mission: The team’s goal is to create a novel therapeutic device that provides relief in the form of heat, vibration, and cooling to those with RLS through automatic or manual control. It is believed that this new device will prove beneficial to those who need assistance through non invasive techniques with a higher degree of control devoted to the user.
