October Update 2021

Key Topics

  • Gantt Chart/Budget
  • Specification
  • Verification/Validation
  • Initial Design Concepts

The Gantt Chart was created with the purpose of keeping the team on track with any and all assignments. While some aspects such as the requirements and overall design of the device are continuously being edited, defining deadlines ensure that the team does not fall behind. The initial concept of the teams budget was also created to keep track of ordered parts that may be presented in the future.

The specifications for the device were finalized from the initial design presentation. Some specifications included defined temperature ranges for the device, leakage current maximums that were in correlation with previously defined standards, and dimensions of the device in relation to the size of the thigh.

Verification and Validation are methods for testing the specification and functional requirements. While not all of our requirements have verification methods, all of them will eventually have validation methods. The one’s presented are initial thoughts and will be finalized in the future. An example of one of our verification activities include measuring the temperature of the skin device interface. An example of one of our validation methods includes a survey for consumers to complete based on allowable movement of the device.

Three initial design concepts were drawn up to illustrate different methods in which our device could resolve the problem of reoccurring RLS symptoms. For instance, one of the initial designs had a cooling component involving flowing water through tubes while another had a component involving fans blowing cold air at the target area.
