Solar Splash is the World Championship of Collegiate Solar Boating. Held each summer for the past 30 years, the competition sees teams from around the world build a solar-powered electric boat to compete in a variety of events that measure their abilities both in and out of the water. The College of New Jersey has been competing in Solar Splash since 1999, and after a one-year hiatus, we plan on returning to the competition with a new boat we will be designing this year.

We as the 2023 TCNJ Solar Splash team value Solar Splash’s primary goal of promoting students’ interest in science and technology, which is accomplished by allowing them to apply the theory they learn in class to a real-world project. Additionally, we also appreciate the challenge it brings to participants to step out of their comfort zone, with many facets of the design process requiring skillsets from various engineering disciplines.
