Overview

Approximately 1 in 3 children with a urinary tract infection has Vesicoureteral reflux(VUR). VUR is defined as a condition where there is backflow of urine from the bladder to the kidneys.

Current Treatment

Lower grades of VUR tend to correct themselves as the ureters grow. Higher grades require surgical intervention. Though there are both open and laparoscopic procedures, they are both inpatient procedures with recovery time required. There is currently no minimally invasive technique to correct VUR.

Problem statement

The goal of this device is to provide a less invasive technique to correct high-grade VUR when compared to current surgical treatments. The target audience is all ages, though most users will be toddler-aged children.
