Meet The Team

Peter Stahl

Peter Stahl is a mechanical engineering senior, and is responsible for design and calculations pertaining to pipe flow and pressure drops.  His role in this project involves determining the optimal configuration for the desalination system while maintaining a relatively small footprint for portability.  This requires performing research and handling all communications associated with pump, pipe fitting, and membrane selection. Outside of the project, Peter is the president of the Mixed Martial Arts club on campus, and has experience working in both quality control for medical equipment and in documenting Component Maintenance Manuals for actuators in the aerospace industry.

Chris Garr

Chris Garr is a Senior Mechanical Engineering major here at the College of New Jersey. He is a Community Advisor in the freshman dorms, a Founding Father of the Academic Engineering Frat Chapter of Theta Tau at the college, and a Sole Founder of All-In BubbleBallin a bubble soccer company. He joined this project out of his aspiration to help change the world for the better. He was particularly interested in seeing this project help those in need, and provide the basic human right to clean water. Chris is looking to take his career in a direction similar to this project, one in which he can leverage his skills to help provide clean energy for the world.

Jekabs Hayes

Jekabs Hayes is a Senior ME candidate at TCNJ. At the top of his academic interests list are fluid mechanics, computer programming, and vibration analysis, the latter of which he was introduced to while working for vertical wind tunnel manufacturer Aerodium Technologies in Rīga, Latvia, during the summer of 2019. Post-graduation, Jekabs plans to enter the workforce and aspires to work in a position related to humanitarian engineering, medical device development, and/or renewable energy harvesting. The Solar Desalinator project was therefore a natural and unsurprising choice of senior project.  Jekabs also has ties to two TCNJ extracurriculars: the TCNJ ASME chapter, and TCNJ Cross Country and Track and Field, which he was a part of upon entering college until the spring of his sophomore year. Outside of academics, Jekabs is passionate about conservationism, recycling, cycling, and minimizing his carbon footprint as well as encouraging others to do the same.
