Project

The location of this bridge is prone to flooding during large rain events due to Shabakunk Creek being dammed a short distance downstream. Severe flooding has been observed and the water surface elevation of Shabakunk Creek has risen high enough to over top the bridge and flood the roadway. Analysis will be done to determine the necessary bridge elevation.

The next goal of the project will be to incorporate traffic-calming devices on Princeton Pike, as it is a roadway used heavily by pedestrians (Lawrence Middle & High School). Princeton Pike is used as a by-pass from US Rt 1 to NJ 206, and the speed limit of 25 mph is seldom obeyed. Our proposal will incorporate roundabouts, bump-outs and other necessary devices to provide a safer and more pedestrian friendly roadway.
