Overall Design

The first design solution involves the use of resistance bands. The headpiece will have a support on top of the head and behind the head to keep the head secure during the exercise. The resistance band will be attached to straps that hang down from the head piece at the sides of jaw. The straps can be adjusted to ensure that the resistance band firmly touches the chin. A chin rest will be placed on the resistance band for comfort during exercise. The bands will be interchangeable to allow for changing the level of resistance. The prototype will have three resistance bands of varying resistances. Fasteners on the straps can attach the resistance bands. The chin rest can be easily removed from one resistance band and placed on another.

Oval shaped heating pads will be attached to a flexible plastic that connects to the headpiece above the ears. This allows the user to move the heating pad to the desired location. The device should be able to maintain a temperature of 42 ℃ by regulating heat with a microcontroller. The rechargeable battery, microcontroller and wires will be incorporated into the headpiece. The on and off buttons will be placed on the headpiece as well.
